Heat resistant Curabond hot melt powders with a degree of cross-linking

This grade is supplied to many customers worldwide and is used in a wide variety of applications where conventional thermoplastic powders do not meet the necessary requirements such as heat resistance.

The base polymer of FX 2030 melts around 100 – 110°C and on additional heating the melt viscosity increases to a point of infusibility. The ideal temperature for cross-linking the product is 165 – 170°C. Depending on temperature/time, it is possible to react FX 2030 enough to withstand temperatures up to 250°C.

The polymer chain has a large proportion of polar chemical groups which facilitate excellent adhesion to a wide variety of substrates including metallised foils and glass fiber. It also exhibits excellent adhesion to Aramid, carbon fibre and substrates with difficult finishes such as fluorocarbon and silicone.

This grade is currently being used in many different applications where high heat resistance is required. It particularly lends itself to deep draw moulding applications for the automotive sector.

FX 2030 has the advantage of simple application as with standard hot melt powders and a "stop-start" reaction system which does not require moisture, UV, or catalyst and is therefore stable at low and ambient temperatures requiring no special storage conditions and a shelf life measured in years.

It is available in different particle sizes for scatter coating with 400 micron being our standard grade.
